Freckles leans against the door to her kennel and looks at me. She presses her head into the wire mesh. I go over and say hello, scratch her ear through the mesh. She sinks to the ground on her back, waits for a belly rub. "I'll be back in a bit," I say to her as I've got a couple of other dogs to walk first. She looks at me like I've done her wrong.
Later, I take Freckles out with another volunteer who's walking Delia. Delia's a pipsqueak. The two want to play but leashes get tangled and Freckles steps on Delia. I pull Freckles back but Delia keeps barking at Freckles to keep playing. Freckles wants to oblige so she pulls. Leashes tangle. Freckles steps on Delia. Repeat. It's too bad the management at Exhibition Place won't oblige Toronto Animal Services by allowing them to put up a fenced in run. It would be fun to watch Freckles and Delia off leash in supervised play.
Freckles is adorable. I don't how anyone could've given her up. Maybe there's a sad story there. Well, any story with a dog being abandoned is a sad story but you know what I mean. I'm pretty sure the next chapter is going to be very different for Freckles. I'm pretty sure whoever gets Freckles next is going to hang onto her for life.
The best way to check on the adoption status of this dog (and other dogs and cats and other small domestic animals) is to visit Toronto Animal Services adoption website or call 416 338 6668 for the Toronto Animal Services South shelter. If the dog is no longer on the TAS adoption website, it's probably because it's been adopted already.
What a beautiful face! And a very cute name! With that perfect write up Fred she should get a forever and ever home soon thanks to you!
What a stunning face with a lovely name that suits her so well. I pray that someone will come and see her and she'll sweep them off their feet. All she wants and craves is love and attention and who wouldn't want to give her that. I wish you Freckles all the happiness and love in the world sweetie pie.
I've walked Freckles and she is so good on her walks. She's very affectionate and she does love treats indeed. She's a great dog with a lot of character and a lot of potential. Good luck Freckles.

Has this pretty girl been adopted?
Hi Freckles I miss you. I've worked with Freckles at the shelter in the summer and I hope she gets adopted:)
hope this pup is still available
Hi Arthur, Freckles was adopted but thanks for inquiring. You can always check the TAS website for most recent available dogs.
We adopted the lovely Freckles, the day before Christmas Eve......We think she may have been taken back to the shelter as she was quite a handful- very energetic, barking, separation anxiety , nipping etc...... however in less than a week the change has been remarkable- she now sleeps next to our old boxer dog which reassures her, has learnt not to bark and cry for attention, relaxes by the fire and has a routine she understands. Mostly she needed exercise, exercise, and more exercise, its the off leash dog park for her twice a day, a long walk, mini walks and playtime.Still some issues but she is the sweetest brightest girl that improves every dog with positive re-enforcement and love.We adore her, and so does ''Marley''.........
Thanks for the update, Eddie and Michele. I wasn't even aware Freckles had been returned. Thanks for giving her another chance at Christmas.
